Axminster CarpetsUnderstanding colourUSING THE COLOUR WHEEL Choosing the right colour of carpet is important, and the colour wheel can help you understand the basics of colour when choosing your carpet and the colour scheme for your room. Here are some of the basics things it's useful to know: Primary colours - red, blue and yellow - in theory all other colours can be created by mixing these together in different proportions. Shade - add black to the primary colour Tint - add white to the base colour Secondary colours - formed by mixing two primary colours together e.g. Red + Yellow = Orange. Tertiary colours - formed by mixing a primary colour and a secondary colours together e.g. Red + Green = Brown Complementary colours - opposite colours on the Colour Wheel. These create a vibrant contrast. Harmonious colours - these derive from the same base colour (e.g. pink and maroon both derive from red. Warm colours - colours with a higher proportion of red Cool colours - colours with a higher proportion of blue. USING THE COLOUR WHEEL
