Axminster CarpetsUnderstanding colourCREATING DIFFERENT MOODS The most important factor when choosing your carpet colour is that it complements the furnishings and environment. The colour you choose for your walls can make a big difference to the atmosphere you create. Here are some basic principles: - Using the same colour throughout will give a feeling of space and link with colour schemes from room to room. - Darker, stronger colours or brighter colours create an intimate atmosphere and make your space seem more intimate and enclosed. - Lighter, less saturated colours, will give you a feeling of extra space. - If you have a low ceiling, it will seem higher if your paint it with a lighter colour than your walls. - If you use harmonious colours (such as orange and yellow) they will give you a pleasant colour co-ordinated look. - If you use contrasting colours side by side (such as red and green), they will have the effect of making one another seem more intense.
