The Carpet Foundation Suitability Evaluation System

Using British Standard (BS) and International (ISO) carpet tests, the following key characteristics for carpet suitability are scientifically measured.

Tuft density - the number of tufts in a unit area
Surface pile weight - the weight of pile in a unit area
Surface pile height - the height of the pile above the backing
Pile yarn fibres used - the type of fibre used in the surface pile yarn
Appearance retention - how the carpet will perform in use.

In addition, carpet is tested for flammability, using one of two recognised BS tests.
