Axminster Carpets is committed to its Carbon Neutral Programme which aims to neutralise (or offset) the effects which lead to climate change.
It is the first UK Carpet Manufacturer to offset the carbon emissions associated with a specific range of carpets.
Carbon emissions from the manufacturing and distribution process are independently assessed and will be offset by investing in renewable energy projects such as Wind Power and Hydropower plants, verified to comply with the Voluntary Carbon Standard. The company is also investing in a UK tree planting scheme.
One particular initiative is the launch of Swaledale, the company’s first carbon neutral range of carpets. Produced using wool from the Swaledale sheep, which has an inherent amount of natural grey in its fleece, the finished plain carpet in a range of bright fashion colours, has a distinctively natural appearance, which is proving massively popular with a generation of ‘green’ consumers.
