Apprenticehips in Carpet Manufacturing

Would you like to join our team and gain training in one of the worlds-leading carpet makers and join a British iconic brand?

From day one you will be involved in making our luxury carpets for everyone from Royal Households to discerning households world wide.

Do you have a family member or friend who may be interested in taking up this opportunity to gain training and a nationally recognised qualification, with long term career prospects at the end of it?

The qualification part of the Apprenticeship, which normally takes 12 – 15 months to complete, will lead to a Level 2 certificate in Manufacturing Operations (awarded by Yeovil College), with on the job training continuing for some time afterwards.

Training and tuition will be on-site at Axminster Carpets, with possibly the occasional day-release required at Yeovil.

Training will cover the entire process of carpet making, beginning with the receipt, storage and winding of yarn, through to changing, weaving, finishing and inspection.

Candidates should have a practical aptitude, possess five GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and maths and a technology or art/craft subject, but most of all, an enthusiasm and desire to learn skills that play a crucial role in maintaining Axminster Carpets’ world-wide reputation for quality.

Starting pay in the first year will be £150 per week, rising to National Minimum Wage in year two, and progressing to higher rates with training and experience.

Hours of work will be Monday to Friday 8am – 4pm, and after training candidates are likely to be expected to work on rotating shifts of 6 – 2 / 2 -10.
